Boys' Tennis: Galena tops Douglas

Douglas fell 12-6 against Galena in Minden Thursday, but sophomore James TenBroeck came up with three impressive wins against the vaunted Galena lineup.

"James showed why he is a premiere tennis player in Northern Nevada," Douglas coach Rod Smith said. "He beat one of the top players in our division, Graham Harris, 6-1.

"I am more proud and impressed with out team after this loss than I was after defeating Reed handily earlier in the week. Our guys were not interested in just providing a good, competitive showing (which they did), they were out there to win.

"They know that Galena is a perennial powerhouse, but that did not deter our team's effort and enthusiasm."

Douglas' remaining wins on the day came from Garon Athanacio, Craig Stratton and the doubles team of Matt Williams and Matt Thomas.
