Girls' Soccer: Douglas shuts out Reno 3-0

The Douglas High School girls' soccer team powered to a 3-0 win over Reno at Keith "Duke" Roman Field in Minden Tuesday night.

The Tigers got goals from Natalie Freitas, Katie Dry and Alex Laing in the win while the defense held off an aggressive Reno attack in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Freitas got Douglas on the board first in the 16th minute. An indirect kick landed in front of the Reno net, where it bounced between a pair of Reno defenders before Freitas punched it to the far post for the goal.

In the 28th minute, Laing dropped a nice pass in front of the net, which Dry took and maneuvered past a defender before hammering the shot through from about 15 yards out.

Reno shifted its attack forward in the second half and peppered the Tiger net with 14 shots. They'd put three shots on goal in the second half before Douglas managed its first.

Tiger goalkeeper Brianna Randall posted her fifth shutout of the year season though, recording 12 saves along the way.

Laing put the Tigers final goal of the night in on an assist from Kyra Barth in the 58th minute.

Douglas improved to 6-0 with the win and has outscored its opponents 20-1 to start the year.
