The R-C Morning Report

The R-C's circulation manager brought in a couple of magnetic signs he found attached to the newspaper racks with slogans on them. I'm betting they were distributed in preparation for the arrival of the TEA Party Express in Fuji Park this morning. The bus is supposed to show up at 9:30 a.m. today.

It will be a busy day today for the county, which is sponsoring two meetings related to the new FEMA flood maps. Real estate and insurance agents are invited to a 9-11 a.m. meeting at the CVIC Hall, which is open to the public. An open house for residents is set for 4:30-6 p.m. for property owners followed by a 6-8 p.m. meeting.

It did snow in the Valley on Tuesday, but you could count the flakes as they came down. There's a light dusting of snow on my car this morning, so there must have been something, which jibes with a National Weather Service special statement. Forecasters say the highest concentration of snow showers is running from near Gardnerville south into Mono and Mineral counties. Winds are expected to blow 25-30 mph out of the north, making this a chilly morning.

There are more road controls today then there were on Tuesday, with chains or snow tires required on Highway 50 over the pass and down to Glenbrook and on Highway 28 four miles north of Spooner Junction.
