The R-C Morning Report

Topaz Lodge reopens today after three months down due to an electrical fire. The casino is open, but there is still some work to be done through the month of July before everything is open.

The Town of Gardnerville may add parking to its list of services under county code. The town is seeking a revision of its creation ordinance to include parking. If the Minden garage is indeed dead, there may be money in county coffers to pay for parking, so the question is whether Gardnerville is in line for some of that dough and what they'll do with it. Guess I'd know if I'd picked up the packet. Gardnerville board members meet 4:30 p.m. today in the town offices on Main Street.

Douglas County Parks & Recreation commissioners are meeting at 6 p.m. in the Kahle Community Center on Kingsbury Grade in Stateline. Among the items on the agenda are a rock-climbing-and-snow-play park on Tramway Drive in association with the Sierra Sunrise Development.

The Morning Report will be taking the day off on Wednesday for the Fourth of July. So will The Record-Courier, whose offices will be closed. We won't be alone in that as county, state and federal offices will also be shut down, along with every financial institution in the country. The one exception will be the Douglas County Marriage Bureau at Lake Tahoe, which is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you still want one of the free flags The R-C is giving away, you'll have to stop by today.
