Proscenum Players announce auditions for 'Thieves' Carnival'

Staff Reports

Proscenium Players, Inc. announces auditions for the third show of the 2009-10 season, "Thieves' Carnival," by Jean Anouilh. The most successful of Anouilh's works in the United States is loaded with humor, romance and masquerades.

The scene is a palatial home where two attractive young girls reside. The home is invaded by three affectionate thieves on the one hand and by a country bumpkin on the other. A lovely romance blooms instantly between one of the girls and the youngest thief. Being a very honest fellow, he cannot in conscience accept her love and instead turns with vengeance toward his job. But she is swifter in her wiles than he is in his.

Auditions are Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the board room at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St., Carson City. Enter on the Ann Street door and go downstairs.

This shows requires actors both males (ages late teen to 80) and females (ages 8-80). Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

"Thieves' Carnival" is directed by David Josten and produced by Pat Josten. Production dates are weekends March 5-20, 2010 on the stage at the Children's Museum of Nothern Nevada.
