Upcoming theatrical auditions in Carson City

Auditions for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." for actors ages 5-17 are today and Saturday. Wild Horse Academy of the Arts is led by artistic director Carol Scott and executive producer Pat Josten.

Call for an audition slot and auditions are limited. Come prepared with a musical selection of a minute or less on CD or tape to demonstrate vocal ability and range. Be prepared to dance.

This will be the Northern Nevada premiere of the Broadway junior version of the Broadway musical. Rehearsals will be on Mondays and Wednesdays and the production will be April 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2, and 3 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City and at the CVIC Hall in Minden on May 10, 11 and 12.

Calling singers, dancers, musicians, gymnasts, and other solo variety acts, age 6-17, for Wild Horse Children's Theater's second annual Capital City Idol Talent Competition at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada on March 14.

The time of performance must be less than three and a half minutes and any music must be provided on CD. Singers must not have vocal tracks or background vocals on the CD. No duets or groups.

Participants will be in the divisions of youth (ages 6-9), junior (ages 10-12) and senior (ages 13-17). Idol contestant preliminaries start 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28. Competition finalists perform and compete for prizes at 6:30 p.m. March 14.

First- and second-place winners in each division selected. Judges will select winners based on talent, stage presence, personality and entertainment value.

Proscenium Players Inc. announces auditions for "Journey's End," 7 p.m. Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, in the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theatre, Carson City.

"Journey's End is set in the British trenches in World War I and was written in the 1920's by R.C. Sheriff. The play features an all-male cast. Ages 18 to 50-plus are encouraged to audition.

Director Tony DeGeiso requires a one-minute memorized monologue and cold readings from the script. Rehearsals begin Feb. 16. Performances are April 10-26. Information, Lisa Bommarito, 291-6216.
