Ringing in kindness

EDITOR:

Our first Ring in Kindness bell hanging took place, and what a wonderful response we have received! Ring in Kindness is the Partnership of Community Resources campaign for inspiring kindness and motivating people to "inspire it forward." Inspired by Tucson, Ariz., community art project Ben's Bells, the partnership has worked throughout the spring and summer to create handmade, brightly painted, hanging pieces of art which were mysteriously hung, in the wee hours of Sept. 27, all around Douglas County.

The art pieces were lovingly created by volunteers in our community through a collaboration with Felix Pottery/Three Rooms Gallery. Many hands and many hearts touched each bell in the multiple step project from creating the central butterfly to hand crafted ceramic beads to the stringing of the individual pieces and finally attaching a brass bell and a printed note that invited the finder to take their Ring in Kindness bell home and simply spread the message of kindness.

For more information, or to jump in and get involved in this community outreach project please contact the Partnership of Community Resources at 782-8611. Lorraine Felix of Felix Pottery, 782-5434, has volunteered her studio at 1459 Highway 395 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month. No artistic talent necessary to join the fun.
