Photo club names winner

Birds were the theme of the Carson Valley Photo Club's January photo contest. The first-place winner was Pam Brekas' picture, "Open Wide," of pelicans lined up for dinner taken on a recent cruise to Mexico.

Second-place went to Nancy Hulsey for her picture of a duck and its reflection. Third-place went to Kathy Port's photo of a hawk.

Marv from Marv's Custom Framing in Gardnerville gave a presentation on framing photos correctly at the club's March 10 meeting.

Photographs are displayed at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden.

The theme for the April contest will be spring colors. Pictures must be 8-by-10 and must have been taken from March 10 through April 14, 2009.  

The next meeting of the Carson Valley Photo Club is April 14. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
