A woman whose failure to properly deal with her diabetes caused the deaths of an entire family in a vehicle accident is scheduled to be sentenced today. Dawn K. Miley faces five years in prison, but in exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors will recommend probation. Miley, 44, admitted to one county of felony neglect of duty in the deaths of the four members of the Calevro family in the summer of 2007.

A meeting on changes to the Douglas Area Rural Transit schedule will be 4-6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Center. The transportation folks will be accepting comments on the changes for the rest of their lives, but officially through April 13. Call 783-6455 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to share your feelings.

There's a wind advisory in effect for the next hour. Expect winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph in the Valley and 60 mph in the foothills. Highway 395 will be a bumpy ride. Campers and trailers are prohibited through Washoe Valley, where there is a high wind warning.

For commuters to Reno, there's a big band of snow showers expected to arrive at Interstate 80 right in time for rush hour. The National Weather Service reports it could produce 1-2 inches of snow in places. The big storm looks like it is passing north of us. There's a 50 percent chance of snow showers today.
