Daphne Laurel Bateman and Joseph Daniel Monson of Sacramento have announced their wedding engagement.
Daphne is the daughter of Robert and Phyllis Bateman of Carson City and is a 2003 graduate of Douglas High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2007, and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from UNR's Orvis School of Nursing in 2008. She is a registered nurse at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, Calif.
Joseph is the son of Clark and Jean Monson of Nampa, Idaho, and is a 2001 graduate of Sparks High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2005, and a Master of Science in agricultural and applied economics from Virginia Tech in 2008. He is an agricultural economist for the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
The couple plan to be married August 2009 in Carson City.
