Shell, Bateman to be married

Leonora Katherine Shell of Escalon, Calif., and Drew Patrick Bateman of Carson City, are engaged to be married in April.

Shell is the daughter of Claudia and Doug George of Escalon and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in entomology from the University of California, Davis, in 2007. She works as an entomologist at the University of California, Davis.

Bateman is the son of Phyllis and Robert Bateman of Carson City and is a 2003 graduate of Douglas High School. He graduated in 2008 from the University of California, Davis, with Bachelor of Science degrees in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering.

He is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and begins pilot training September 2009 at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, Miss.
