Anthony S. Vilardi

1930-2009

A celebration of life gathering is noon today at the pavilion in Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa for Minden resident Anthony S. Vilardi, 78, who died June 14, 2009.

Mr. Vilardi was born Aug. 12, 1930, to Santo Vilardi Sr. and Jennie Polizzi in Kearney, N.J.

He attended college and Army training courses and was the co-founder of International Soundex Reunion Registry. He was in the Navy and the Army National Guard for 38 years and was a member of the Sagebrush Model A Club. He enjoyed stamp collecting, travel and restoring Model A's.

Mr. Vilardi married Susan Sanford on Sept. 1, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Emma and his sister Rose. He is survived by wife Susan Vilardi; stepsons Ed Vilardi and Mark Hover; grandson Joseph Vilardi; brothers Joseph (Eileen) Vilardi and John Vilardi; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Vilardi's name to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements and cremation in care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Crematory and Funeral Home.
