The R-C Morning Report

The Pony Express re-ride entered Nevada on Tuesday running about four and a half hours behind schedule. Riders last reported being at Dry Creek Crossing at 3:42 a.m. this morning, according the Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association. According to the GPS tracker, that means they haven't quite made it to Austin. The schedule has the rider coming through Carson Valley via Jacks Valley Road and Genoa at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. Hopefully, the Nevadans have been able to make up some time across the desert. Visit the Web site at www.xphomestation.com for updates.

Tonight members of the Young Chautauquans will be performing at Mormon Station State Historic Park starting at 5 p.m. For information call 782-2555.

They say that if you stand in front of a mirror and say El Nino three times, the rains will stop. That's apparently happened, since we're looking at mostly sunny skies today with a high of 80. The sun's going to keep pouring it on through the rest of the week with the high expected to hit 86 by Friday. We'll get a little cooldown over the weekend, but the temperatures are generally headed north.
