Best derbies ever

I have participated in the Kids' Fishing Derby as a river helper for the past 15 years, working both days.

I have always worked with the older group of kids rather than the pre-school kids

This year was one of the best derbies, even considering the weather on Saturday and the fish bite on Sunday.

No parents volunteering to work the session in which their kids were fishing and leaving once their kids had their fish.

No hassling among the kids.

They were great, no pushing others out of the way and lots and lots of the magic words of "please" and "thank you."

While I would have liked to have seen more fish caught on Sunday this was certainly one of the most enjoyable derbies that I have worked.

I want to thank the derby board members, the sponsors and donors, the other volunteers for all their efforts in putting on this derby.

I want to give a very special thanks to all the kids, they really made this 20th derby a special derby.
