The R-C Morning Report

East Fork firefighters responded to an unattended campfire along Out-R-Way in Fish Springs on Wednesday night. The fire was smoldering and caught some brush when firefighters arrived. I've been checking to see if the BLM or Forest Service have implemented fire restrictions yet, and as near as I can tell they haven't. That means we have to police ourselves. Bring a shovel and water if you're camping, and put those fires all the way out.

Douglas County commissioners raised water rates for the Tahoe water companies at their meeting on Thursday. Skyland's water rates will go from $74.70 to $114.23 per month, and rates for Cave Rock and Uppaway will increase from $135.28 to $180.82 per month, according to the Tahoe Tribune's Sarah Thompson. I expect the county's other utilities will be seeing rate hikes over the next few months.

The forecast for today is sunny and warm with a high hitting 96 and a low tonight of 55. The chance for thunderstorms over the weekend has expanded to Saturday and Sunday, with a 20 percent chance on Saturday night through Sunday. The weather should clear by Monday.
