The R-C Morning Report

Two Carson City men are scheduled to enter pleas this morning in District Court to charges of trafficking in narcotics. Eloy Ramos-Montesdeoca, 25, and Fernando Salcedo-Navarro, 41, waived their preliminary hearings earlier this month, indicating they would plead guilty. The two men were arrested by Carson City sheriff's deputies on May 26 on suspicion of trafficking and sales of methamphetamine in Carson City. At the time of their arrest, Ramos-Montesdeoca and Salcedo-Navarro were already being investigated by members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team on suspicion of trafficking and sales of methamphetamine in Douglas County. Ramos-Montesdeoca has a "no-bail" hold placed on him by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Firefighters are working a lightning caused fire in the hills on the northwest side of Dog Valley that's pumping up some smoke when the wind picks up. Firefighters have the fire surrounded and there are a score of them working on it overnight, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch. Dog Valley is 10 miles northwest of Reno. Closer to home, there was an eighth-acre brush fire in Clear Creek Canyon on Saturday night.
