Knights of Columbus make donation to Austin's House

Staff Reports

The Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Heart of Mary Council in Gardnerville recently made a $1,000 cash donation to Austin's House. The Immaculate Heart of Mary Council of St. Gall Catholic Church supports Austin's House with fundraising events every year.

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 and named in honor of Christopher Columbus. The Catholic fraternal service organization has more than 1.7 million members in 14,000 councils worldwide.

Austin's House provides services and care for up to 10 children from infants to age 18, placed at Austin's House after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Austin's House provides nutrition, hygiene, rest, nurturing, recreation, companionship, life skills training and education.

This is a challenging time for nonprofit organizations and cutbacks in the state budget have affected Austin's House. Continued community support is needed to keep the doors open. Information about making a donation to Austin's House at www.austinshouse.org or 267-6711.
