Chance of snow in Valley today

Carson Valley residents may awake to a dusting of snow this morning, thanks predicted cool-down in a series of storms that hit the Sierra this weekend.

The National Weather Service is predicting an 80 percent chance of snow starting early this morning. More than an inch of snow is forecast for the Carson Valley during the day and more may on the way on Monday.

In the first major storm since the beginning of the year, Fish Springs received .75 inches of rain on Saturday. Western parts of the Valley received as much as an inch since stormy weather began on Thursday morning.

Today's is the last in a series of storms. Sunny skies are expected to return by Thursday.

"These are typical Sierra storms that are lined up," meteorologist Brian O'Hara said. "There's nothing out of the ordinary."
