Curtis Lee Shute

A memorial service will be held at a later date for 8-year Topaz Ranch Estates resident Curtis Lee Shute, 65, who died Feb. 6, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Medical Center.

Born Dec. 9, 1943, in New England to Robert and Nadine Rose Shute, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He married Victoriana Ortiz in Bullhead City, Ariz., on Aug. 11, 1993.

Mr. Shute worked for U.S. Immigration Service as a border patrol agent and immigration supervisor from 1985 to 2001. He lived in San Diego, Calif., prior to moving to Minden.

He was a member of the Mason Valley Rock and Gem Club. He enjoyed metal detecting, hiking, fishing and camping.

He is preceded in death by his mother in 1997; his father in 2008; and a brother-in-law, Ed Rydzinski in 2008.

He is survived by his wife; sons Felix, William, Joaquin and Diego; daughters Jennifer, Joanna and Jessica; brother Larry, sister Sherry Rydzinski; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his dogs Spike and Daisy.

Cremation was by FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley.
