Threats charge brings man to court today

An Indian Hills man is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court today on charges he threatened his pregnant girlfriend with a knife on Dec. 23.

John Henry Collins, 40, was arrested at gunpoint after deputies received a report that a man was stabbing a woman in the arm in a Mica Drive apartment.

Deputies entered the apartment, guns drawn, and saw Collins standing near the door with his hands behind his back. After a second order to show his hands, Collins dropped two knives and surrendered to deputies.

Collins' girlfriend said he became angry and refused to let her leave the apartment. Collins had stabbed a couch and the carpet with the knife, but hadn't hurt the woman or anyone else in the home.
