The R-C Morning Report

Minden Town Board members will discuss an agreement between the town and the Carson Water Subconservancy District to provide funding to assist in the engineering of the North Valley pipeline project from Minden to Carson City. Also on the agenda for tonight is discussion of a request by Copper Peak for reimbursement of connection fees for their building with the understanding that when the project moves forward, the fees would be required, and the amendment of the agreement between Monterra and Douglas County to alter the timing of the dedication of land for Muller Parkway and Heybourne Road. Minden meets at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall.

The way may be cleared on Friday for work to begin on what has turned out to be the oldest town's oldest engineering project, the stormwater drainage from Carson Street in Genoa. After spending months obtaining and then rejecting stimulus money, getting grants, and negotiating easements, the project that started in 2005 may become a reality in 2010, town board members learned on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service filled in most of the blanks in its precipitation chart for November and the water picture is becoming a little clearer. Ebbetts Pass telemetry is showing 107 percent of average for the year so far. Poison Flat is at 151 percent of average and Markleeville is at 150 percent. On the other end of the spectrum is Blue Lakes with 67 percent of average.

That situation looks like it might improve as a new system heads this way. The leading edge is due in on Saturday night with a slight chance of snow, increasing until snow is likely on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Today, however, will be mostly sunny with a high near 51. The low tonight will drop to 15 in a weather anagram. Right now it is 18 degrees in Minden, 19 in Genoa and 26 degrees in Fish Springs.
