The R-C Morning Report

It will be a warm Earth Day today with a high of 82 degrees. The fruit trees are flowering and the birds are singing, and it's going to be miserable on Thursday and Friday, so you might as well enjoy it today. According to the National Weather Service, the temperature is about to drop 20 degrees in two days. Wind speeds will be in the 40s and the snow level will drop to 5,500 feet by Friday. Doesn't look like much precipitation is coming with this storm, but you never know.

One thing you could do is visit the Dangberg Home Ranch, which reopens for tours today. One-hour tours are 10 a.m. Wednesdays through Sundays with additional tours at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. Reservations are required, so call 783-9417 or e-mail dangbergranch@parks.nv.gov

I talked with the folks who own the irrigation ditches last night and they're not sure when the ditches will be fixed. It turns out that both ditches carry water for the South Tahoe Public Utility District. One ditch is used by the district and three others to irrigate Diamond Valley. The other was went to Indian Creek Reservoir. It's a main source for the reservoir, which does not bode well for the summer.
