A young man named Geo. White, employed on the Dangberg home ranch, suffered a compound fracture of the leg when a horse he was riding dropped dead, pinning the rider beneath him. A physician was called from Carson and upon examination found the injury to be of a very serious nature and the young man was taken to a Reno hospital where the proper care can be given. The broken bone protruded through the flesh of the leg, making a very painful injury.

The horse he was riding was known as "Patch" and was a favorite animal with the vaqueros. He dropped dead while being rode through a gate.

A candidate for "Meanest thief" has made his presence felt in Carson Valley. Member of the Coventry Cross Episcopal Church reported to sheriff George Byers that an altar basin, two large Eucharistic candlesticks and a small office candlestick were stolen from the chapel sometime Thursday or Friday.

Sheriff Byers expressed the opinion that the theft was the work of vandals or even a thoughtless newlywed couple wanting a souvenir.

For nearly 30 years, Jose and Alma Regalado have watched the passing parade on Esmeralda Avenue from behind the counter of the Vogue Cleaners, but that will come to an end April 30 as the Regalados close the business and prepare to go back to Mexico.

They moved to Minden in 1971 and took over the old dry cleaners, which has been an Esmeralda anchor for 60 years, sharing the block with the Minden Inn and across the street from the C.O.D. Garage and the Pony Express restaurant.
