Man gets probation for harboring stolen boat

A Gardnerville man who provided safe harbor for a stolen boat was sentenced to a suspended one-year jail term.

Evan D. Bower, 49, was ordered to pay $1,187 restitution on one count of attempted theft. The fine and a variety of other fees will come out of Bower's cash bail.

District Judge Dave Gamble placed Bower on three years probation and told him not to have any contact with the man Bower said took the boat. Bower must also do 80 hours of community service.

"I have confidence that this will be a singular event in your life," Gamble said. "It had better be or you'll go to jail."
