Nevada police subject of museum lecture

Nevada native and law enforcement veteran Frank Adams will give a free lecture on the Nevada State Police from 1909 to 1949, 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Adams is a 39-year veteran of Nevada law enforcement and holds Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He pursued graduate studies at the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville.

Adams retired from the Nevada Department of Public Safety as a division chief and currently is the executive director of the Nevada Sheriffs' and Chiefs' Association.

He serves on the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Commission and the James Hoff Peace Officers Memorial Committee. 

Adams has published articles about the Nevada State Police in the Nevada Historical Society Quarterly, the National Outlaw and Lawmen's Association magazine and the Esmeralda County Historical Society publication.

The free lecture series is sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society the second Thursday of the month.

The museum and the Main Street Book Store will be open before and after the one-hour lecture.
