Dance the night away Oct. 4

The Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club is holding a building fund benefit dance 7 p.m. Oct. 4 in the CVIC hall in Minden. Music will be provided by Don and Nadine of Carson City.

There will be raffles for prizes including restaurant dinners and hotel stays and a silent auction for donated items.

The purpose of the fundraising dance is to add to a building fund in anticipation that Douglas County will someday have a new senior center.

Costs for a new center are in the millions of dollars, a figure currently beyond our dreams, said Young at Heart Treasurer Howard Althouse.

"We must start somewhere," said Althouse. "That should the county ever build one, they will undoubtedly have insufficient funds to adequately furnish it. That's where we will step in."
