Girls' Tennis: Douglas beats Wooster

Amelia Ritger faced her toughest test of the season so far, going up against last year's Northern 4A No. 3 seed Diana Kovaltchouk of Wooster.

Ritger passed with flying colors, sweeping cleanly past Kovaltchouk, who had been Ritger's opponent in the 2007 regional semifinal, 6-0. She also won her remaining two sets on the day, 6-0 each. Ritger has only given up one game in her last nine sets and now stands at 45-0 in Northern Nevada play for her career.

Also on the day, Cesarina Ceglia picked up a pair of wins, Clara Ritger had a win and the doubles teams of Niki Hamzik-Marissa Delgadillo and Sophie Lyles-Linsey Glass each had two wins.

Jamie Lundergreen and Sarah Weaver had a win, as did the teams of Cate Kegg-Nicole Bernard and Katie Sawicki-Sarah Tigh.

Douglas improved to 3-2 overall on the season with the win.
