Douglas County School Board trustees will be back at work on the budget, presenting information on other places the district should cut and a recommendation that up to $500,000 from a loan to the self-insurance fund be repaid to help balance the budget.. Last month, trustees were still $110,000 short of the cuts they needed to make this year. Among the ways discussed to make up that difference were cutting field trips, having athletes pay to play sports, cutting travel to nonleague sporting events and making travel off campus more efficient. Trustees meet 3:30 p.m. at Douglas High School. The budget discussion is set for 5:05 p.m.

Genoa business woman Phil Stoll is seeking a special use permit to convert the home at 195 Nixon St. into a bed & breakfast. The house is in the neighborhood commercial zone in Genoa. Built in 1858 and located within the town's historic district. Planning commissioners meet at 1 p.m. today in the commission chambers of the Douglas County Administration Building.

It will be sunny and breezy today with the wind blowing 5-15 mph and gusts of up to 25 mph. The high is expected to hit 85 degrees today and Wednesday and then drop a bit on Thursday. It's going to stay dry for the next week at least.
