Genoa, Nev. — A contract with John Ramirez Jr. to serve as Douglas County superintendent goes before Douglas County School Board trustees 4 p.m. today. No contract was posted to the school district’s site as of this morning. The school board is meeting at the Douglas High School media center.

Planning commissioners are taking a look at the zoning map amendment for Buckeye Farms before it gets to county commissioners for introduction on Thursday. There is also a revision restricting vacation home rentals in Lincoln Park just south of Cave Rock. Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Main Street Gardnerville is meeting 7:30 a.m. today at Gardnerville Station in the S-curve to discuss where the organization is headed into 2024. Warning, there’s significant construction around there.

Douglas County is hosting a workshop on the county’s stormwater master plan and 5-7 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in the Dining Room in Gardnerville.


A 2 p.m. Monday collision at Johnson Lane and Highway 395 resulted in major damage but minor injuries, according to emergency personnel on scene. There were a lot of medical calls keeping East Fork busy during the day.

All the colors were included in the dawn this morning, though the next storm front isn’t due until Wednesday evening. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 48 degrees and the west wind at 5 mph this afternoon.
