The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal accident at Highway 395 and Leviathan Mine Road happened at 2:29 a.m. The accident occurred in the highway's southbound lane. There is no indication the road is still closed.

Crews got the Burnside fire surrounded a day early after the blaze lay down on Thursday. Spokeswoman Helen Frazier said the fire was quiet on Thursday, mainly creeping and smoldering. Firefighters are mopping up the blaze and cleaning up their equipment. They'll spend today reinforcing the fire line and demobilizing. Seven hand crews continue to work on the blaze. The fire continues to burn west of Pickett's Peak, according to Frazier.

If you're looking for something to buy, the Minden-Douglas Elks are holding their annual flea market near their Pit Road Lodge in the Gardnerville Ranchos. The Elks will be selling items today and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In Minden, the 24th annual Carson Valley Street Fair starts 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday on Esmeralda Avenue.

The high temperature today will knock on the 90s today and stay there through the weekend.
