A Carson City woman whose baby was stillborn due to her methamphetamine use is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court for sentencing this morning. Crystal Moreno, 21, faces sentencing after failing drug court and may face up to four years in prison for unlawful use of a controlled substance. Moreno was first arrested three years ago in May 2004 and would have completed her probation had she stayed clean.

Highway work wrapped up on Spooner Summit on Friday as workers completed an interchange that will serve the Clear Creek project in northwestern Douglas County. The interchange was one of the requirements for the project. Work on Highway 50 at Elks Point Road is scheduled to finish this Friday. In the meantime, work will continue in the median of Highway 395 from Muller Lane to Carson City and on State Route 28 for a mile and a quarter north of Spooner Junction.

A small brush fire was quickly contained on 7:19 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Stephanie. East Fork firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze. Also on Saturday, a glider made a hard landing in a field off Genoa Lane. There is no word on the condition of the pilot. An automobile accident occurred 5:06 p.m. Friday at Highway 88 and Centerville Road in Douglas County.

It will be sunny and warm today with the high temperature hitting 89 degrees and the winds calm in the morning, increasing to 11-14 mph in the afternoon with gusts of up to 24 mph. The forecast is pretty much the same for the entire week, with only the temperatures and wind speeds varying. The high for the week looks like 92 on Tuesday, but there's no telling.
