Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Major Link appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

San Francisco Bay area band Major Link is one of the most requested groups at the Carson Valley Inn. The band is Terry Saunders on guitar and Mary Owens on keyboards and vocals who cover a full range of pop, R&B and good old rock 'n' roll.

The Red Hot Smokin' Aces take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until Sept. 14. The Red Hot Smokin' Aces play country and oldies to pop chart hits " from Gretchen Wilson to Stevie Wonder and Merle Haggard to Roy Orbison. The heart of band is father/daughter Jeffrey and Ileia who collectively have toured the northwest for more than 40 years.

Street celebration this weekend

The 24th annual Carson Valley Street Celebration is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Esmeralda Avenue in downtown Minden. More than 100 crafts and food booths. Live music by Sound Bytes and Crimson Collar.

Tickets on sale for courtroom drama

The Carson Valley Community Theatre presents "Night of January 16th" by Ayn Rand.

The courtroom drama will be performed two weekends: Sept. 12-14 and Sept. 19-21 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Evening performances are 7 p.m., Sunday matinees 2 p.m.

"Night of January 16th" offers suspense, intrigue and a surprise ending. It is recommended for mature audiences.

Ticket prices are $12 to $15 for regular performances and $17 to $20 for the opening night champagne gala Sept. 12.

Optional dinner/show packages with wine for the Sept. 13, 19 and 20 performances are available for $46 at Barone & Reed Food Co. in Minden.

Tickets may be purchased from Barone & Reed, Eddy Street Book Exchange, Re/Max Realty Affiliates or Pony Espresso in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
