'Bye Bye Birdie' begins today

The Douglas County Children's Theater presents "Bye Bye Birdie" Friday through Sunday at the Dance Workshop Performing Arts Center Little Theater, 1697 County Road in Minden.

Dance Workshop musical theater teacher Caitlin Papp directs the cast of 32 Carson Valley children. The show is choreographed by Kim Lowe and Megan Hellwinkel.

The Broadway musical was first produced in 1960 and features the songs, "One Last Kiss," "Kids," "Ed Sullivan" and "Put on a Happy Face." The character of Kim is played by Ashey Gong and Ariah Barth, Rosie is played by Kim Lowe and Krystal Vargas, Albert is played by Stewart Winkelman and Dallas Poe and Birdie is played by Eric Dugan.

Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 and are available at the door.
