DAWG adoption

Douglas Animal Welfare Group's Thankful Dog adoption event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 921 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville. With each adoption: free pizza, free spay/neuter, free microchip. Information, dawgrescue.com or 267-7325.


Sertoma Bingo

The last Carson Valley Sertoma Community Bingo of 2008 is Saturday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Doors open at 11 a.m., early bird at 12:30 p.m., regular session at 1 p.m.

Progressive blackout on Saturday will be $250 with 48 numbers or less. Drawing for raffle prizes. Coffee and popcorn provided. Snack bar open. Bingo resumes in January. Information, Cindy, 782-6349.


Investment group

The investment discussion group meets, 10 a.m. Monday, in the ceramics room at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 783-6455.


Food drive

Gardnerville Boy Scout Troop 411 and Cub Scout Pack 409 will be in the Chichester neighborhood and west of Tillman Lane and in Pleasantview leaving food collection notices Nov. 8.

They will return the morning of Nov. 15 to pick up food items left bagged on the porch.

Crafters wanted

Crafters are wanted for the third annual Stewart Community Council Holiday Fair on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Stewart Community Center, 465 Clear Creek Road, Carson City.

Native American and non-Indian vendors are welcome. Items sold at the event include silver, turquoise, beaded artwork, candles, crafts, holiday gifts and decor. Indian tacos and other food will be available.

Halloween entertainment

Several adult Halloween and Nevada Day parties are planned for the weekend.
