Carson Valley Sertoma Community Bingo is the first Saturday of the month at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville.


Doors open at 11 a.m., early bird at 12:30 p.m., regular session at 1 p.m. Progressive blackout on April 5 will be $550 with 55 numbers or less. Coffee and popcorn provided. Snack bar open.

Authors gather at library Saturday

Area authors available for book signing and discussion, 3-5 p.m. April 5, at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.


Authors attending include "The Spirit of Seabiscuit" author Jani Buron, "DeadStruck" writer Thomas Davis, "Penguin Paradise" author Barry Lar Rieu and "Carragan Adventures" writer Patricia Murphy.

Museum lecture April 10


Nevada historians Guy Rocha and Martin and Carol Griffin will speak on "The Search for Spofford Hall: How Nevada History is Built," 7 p.m. April 10 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

The free lecture series is sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society the second Thursday of the month. The museum and the Main Street Book Store will be open before and following the one-hour lecture. Information, 782-2555.




Teen game day at library April 11


Celebrate National Library Week at Teen Game Day, 3 p.m. April 11, at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden. The free program for youth grades six through 12 features Nintendo, Wii games, Guitar Hero III, Dance Dance Revolution. Pizza and soda will be provided.

Shana Morrison plays CVIC Hall April 12


The Carson Valley Arts Council presents singer, songwriter Shana Morrison, 7 p.m. April 12 at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda, Minden. Doors open at 6 p.m., concert at 7 p.m. and dessert at 8:30 p.m.

DAWG adoption event April 19


Douglas Animal Welfare Group's dog adoption event is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 at Petco in Carson Valley Plaza. DAWG offers eligiblity for free spaying or neutering for adopted dogs, free microchips, a $75 reimbursement for obedience training, training DVD and coupons.
