Big Mama's show shines

Big Mama's Show & Shine Car Show at Lampe Park on Saturday was the largest to date with 152 car show participants. The event raised more than $7,000 for the Douglas County Meals on Wheels program.

The Big Mama Best of Show winner was chosen by Miss Douglas County Ashton Sunseri and Miss Carson Valley Christina Keegan. The award went to Chris Harris from Carson City for his 1962 Chevy Corvette convertible.

The Participants' Choice Award went to Gardnerville residents Jerry and Nancy Vandenberg for their 1941 Willys coupe.

Primary sponsor was Mike Schiller from Golden Nugget Automotive. The staff at Douglas County Senior Services thanked Schiller and Big George Ventures, Carson Valley Inn, AM/PM, Minden Taxi, Pic N Save Auto, Iron Horse Cantina, N/C Auto Parts, Jerry's Custom Upholstery, Carson River Bank, Young at Heart, Accolades, Merrill Gardens, Jerry's Rod & Custom, Trevor Thomas and Jerry and Nancy Vandenberg, the Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club and Red's Old 395.

Volunteers included members of China Spring Youth Camp, Rite of Passage, GE Energy and senior center volunteers and staff.
