Stacie Carey of Diamond Springs, Calif. and Michael Hill of Topaz Ranch Estates have announced their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Trish Bist and the late Bob Bist of El Dorado Hills, Calif. Bob Bist was a California Highway Patrol officer until he died in June of 1999.
The future groom is the son of Jonni Hill of Minden and Roy and Fran Hill of Garden Valley, Calif.
The couple had high school crushes on each other when they attended Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, Calif., but didn't know it until 20 years later when they finally reconnected.
Carey is employed by Spherion Temp Agency in El Dorado Hills. Hill is lead coach/counselor for Rite of Passage Silver State Academy near Yerington.
The couple plans to make their home in Douglas County.
The wedding is planned for Aug. 8, 2008, in Minden.
