Pedestrian killed in Pine Nut truck accident

A woman died Friday after being hit by a semi-truck in the southbound lanes of Highway 395 at Pine Valley Road above Double Spring Flat.

The woman's identity has not yet been released by authorities.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, she was walking on Pine Valley Road about 5:30 p.m. when she ran toward a Schneider Trucking Freightliner.

The driver of the truck, identified as Richard Kevin Zeff of Lexington, N.C., tried to avoid hitting her, but she was crushed under the truck's rear wheels, according to the highway patrol.

Neither the driver, nor his passenger was injured in the accident.

The accident delayed traffic on that stretch of Highway 395 for nearly five hours.
