The R-C Morning Report

A bear that was captured in Genoa on Tuesday morning will be released into the wilderness near Genoa Peak today. Carl Lackey will be giving the bear the bum's rush this morning in hopes that the 340-pounder decides it's better to get his food from normal bear sources instead of garbage. We can only hope.

All the wacky lightning that was in the forecast through Friday has now disappeared and for the first time in weeks there are no red letters on the National Weather Service's Web site. That's right, no fire weather watch, no red flag warning, nothing. It will be warm today with the high hitting 94 and partly cloudy. The breeze will come up this afternoon as it usually does.

A couple of little fires were reported on Tuesday, but nothing major. The Nevada Highway Patrol is helping a motorist at Highway 395 and Mica at 6:38 p.m. Otherwise, things seem pretty quiet this morning.

The Elks are hosting their annual carnival starting at 4 p.m. today in Lampe Park. It will run through Sunday.
