The R-C Morning Report

Expect picketers at the big growth rate meeting of county and planning commissioners 6 p.m. today at the CVIC Hall in Minden, but don't expect a decision. The joint meeting of the two bodies responsible for the master plan is agendized as a 2-hour talk about amending Title 20 to add a building permit allocation. At most, officials will direct county staff to prepare something for approval at a future meeting. Folks who are interested in the future of the Valley should attend. Just don't expect this to be the end of the process.

There is only the slightest chance of precipitation showing in the forecast on Monday, but that could well be gone by the time we actually get there. For today and through the weekend, it will be more of the same with mostly sunny skies, high temperatures climbing after a brief drop on Friday and lows in the teens.

Most of the precipitation we typically receive in Carson Valley and the Sierra comes during December, January and February and so far it's looking pretty bad so far. This time last year, we'd already had an entire year's worth of precipitation. This year we're running well behind and things aren't looking up for February so far.
