The R-C Morning Report: Food drop

It's 12 degrees out in Minden as the supporters of the Food Closet of Carson Valley and Channel 2 news drop off food for the annual food drive at the Carson Valley Inn. People started collecting food at 6 a.m. and will keep it up for another 11 hours.

It's not going to be a warm day today, but it could be a lot worse. The high today will climb toward 41 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The high will keep climbing until it hits 45 on Sunday, out in front of a little pulse of weather scheduled to arrive Sunday night.

R-C weather watcher George Uebele reported the last storm dumped 7 inches in Foothill. That and the cold weather has kept snow in the trees on the mountain. It was a good storm for Western Nevada, but we need lots more. The same storm dropped 24.3 inches of snow at Ebbett's Pass.
