Norma E.


Bernard Cain


1929-2007


A memorial service is 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley for Norma E. Bernard Cain, 77, who died April 17, 2007 in Carson City.


Mrs. Cain was born in Portola, Calif., on Nov. 13, 1929, to James N. Bernard and Isabella Delone Buchanan. She grew up in Carson City where she attended elementary through high school in Carson City. She was active in community activities including Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star and a majorette for the Carson Municipal Band. She worked for Sierra Pacific Power Co. and was a secretary for Orvis Ring Elementary School. She was Carson City Clerk. After her marriage she lived in Reno for 49 years, returning to the Dayton and Carson area. Mrs. Cain is a member of a pioneer Nevada family.


She was preceded in death by her husband Russell R. Cain in July 2000, her parents, brother Lowell C. Bernard and her sister Margaret L. Janes. She is survived by her son Jim Cain and his wife Paige of Sparks; daughter Valerie Cobos and her husband Rick of Lemmon Valley; grandsons Brian Cain of Sparks and James R. Cobos of Lemmon Valley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Capitol City Cremations. Burial will be at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice Fund, 520 W. Sixth St., Reno, NV 89503.




Frederick S. Moder


1916-2007


A memorial service was Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville for Frederick S. Moder, 90, who died April 14, 2007, at Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare in Carson City.


Mr. Moder was born Oct. 4, 1916, in Chicago to Rheinholt H. Moder and Alta May Howe.


He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.


He retired from AT&T and was also a Realtor. A resident of Minden for eight years after moving to Carson Valley from Harper, Texas.


He married his third wife Nola Mahan Moder, November 2004, in Gardnerville.


He was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille and his second wife Bernice.


He is survived by his wife Nola Moder of Minden; daughter Gail Moody of Dearborne, Mich.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City.
