Artists accepted in competition

Three local artists from Artistic Viewpoints Gallery were recently accepted into the Grass Valley, California Draft Horse Classic art show. Teri Sweeney, Karen Aleman and Margo Petterson submitted photographs of their artwork to be considered by the show committee to hang during the four-day event. Sweeney, a watercolorist, and Aleman, who works in pastels, each had one piece selected and two of Petterson's oil paintings were chosen.

The art at the classic show is open to all artists over 18 years of age whose work reflects our western way of life and includes any equine subject, western landscape or wildlife. The show runs during the Draft Horse Classic Horse Show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds,11228 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley. The art show will be in the main exhibit building Sept. 21-24. Ribbons will be awarded during the competition for "best of show"; first, second and third places; "best draft horse theme," "honorable mention" and "people's choice."

Prints of the pieces are available through Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, Building B, in Gardnerville. For more information, call Artistic Viewpoints at 783-0633.
