The R-C Morning Report

Today is picture day for the entire Carson Valley. The Record-Courier is asking residents to take photographs of their friends, family, work, school and home life for a special section of the 2007 Carson Valley Almanac. So get out that Instamatic, digital, Brownie, or whatever you happen to prefer and record a day in the life. Submit all photos to R-C head photographer Shannon Litz, at slitz@recordcourier.com

Topaz Ranch Estates takes another run at a candidates night tonight at the community park building at the end of Carter Way. Hosted by the South County Association, the fun starts at 6 p.m. For information call Sam Dupuis at 266-3796.

If you've got any business involving state or county offices, the end of the week is coming fast since they'll be closed on Friday for Nevada Day. The big parade is 10 a.m. Saturday in Carson City.

The Record-Courier will be open on Friday and conducting business as usual.

It will be a little bit cooler today with the high temperature hitting 61 in the wake of a weak low pressure system which brought a few clouds to the Valley on Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will be back in the 70s by Saturday.

Low temperatures in Minden should drop to below freezing. At sunrise in Genoa, the temperature is 28 degrees and the barometer is rising.

Speaking of sunrise, it will be a little earlier next week as Daylight Savings Time kicks in on Sunday. So no more 7:15 sunrises, it will go back to 6 a.m. where it belongs.
