The first meeting of Take Heart, a support group for those who've lost a child from early pregnancy through the first few months of life, will be 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Fountain Head Foursquare Church, 3690 Highway 395. Information, www.fountainheadcc.org or 267-4488.

Smith Valley residents will get to meet their candidates 7 p.m. tonight at Smith Valley High School. Candidates from all levels of government have been invited to speak.

It doesn't look as though the National Weather Service is backing down on its prediction of heavy rain by Wednesday.

Today's forecast is for a 20 percent chance of precipitation increasing to 30 percent tonight. The high temperature to day should reach 71 degrees, the low 39. The storm is expected to hit Wednesday evening with winds between 8 and 20 mph and a 60 percent chance of rain. Snow levels are expected to drop to Lake level.

The town boards of Gardnerville and Genoa will hold their monthly meetings. Gardnerville meets at the town offices starting at 4:30 p.m. Genoa meets in the town meeting room at 7 p.m.
