Happy Earth Day. Gardnerville residents are meeting at 5:30 p.m. to talk about revitalizing Main Street using a program established by The National Trust for Historic Preservation at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395. Gardnerville has undergone several improvements as part of its own project, including burying the cats cradle of power lines that marred the view. Work on the part of businesses has been proceeding, with the Midland Garage and repainting of Sharkey's as the latest improvements. Even the East Fork is looking a little better.

The odds of precipitation are falling faster than those at a horse race where the favorite was spotted limping. There's a 30 percent chance of showers today and tonight and a 20 percent chance of showers on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. If we're lucky a few flakes will fall in the higher elevations. Expect what rain does fall to come after 5 p.m.
