Man sentenced to three years

A musician from Mexico was sentenced to three years in prison Monday and ordered to cooperate with immigration officials after he pleaded guilty to possessing false documentation.

Salvador Flores, 63, pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday. Speaking through an interpreter, he said he had been in the United States for three years.

The false documentation was discovered when he was arrested on a traffic violation.

His lawyer, Tod Young, said Flores worked as a musician in Mexican restaurants.

Flores told District Judge Michael Gibbons he was in the United States to work and play music.

Gibbons suspended the three-year prison sentence and placed Flores on probation for three years. If he is deported, Gibbons ordered him not to re-enter the United States illegally.

n A 15-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos girl who was missing from home for two weeks was ordered to remain in detention pending a hearing in juvenile court.

District Judge Dave Gamble appointed lawyer Derrick Lopez on Tuesday to represent Ashley Nichole Eaken, 15. She was picked up Thursday in Sacramento with another juvenile.
