- A 42-year-old Gardnerville dentist was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery after he allegedly went after a construction crew with boxing gloves and a chain. Douglas Moss was jailed Monday on $28,000 bail. He was released on his own recognizance Wednesday after an appearance in East Fork Justice Court. Page A3

- A Gardnerville man who is legally blind reported Tuesday that someone stole a backpack from his vehicle parked at the Rancho Vista Apartments on Village Way. The 60-year-old victim, a student at Western Nevada community College, said he noticed the backpack was missing when he left for class on Monday. Page A3

- A musician from Mexico was sentenced to three years in prison Monday and ordered to cooperate with immigration officials after he pleaded guilty to possessing false documentation. Salvador Flores, 63, pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday. Speaking through an interpreter, he said he had been in the United States for three years.

The false documentation was discovered when he was arrested on a traffic violation. Page A3

- A 15-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos girl who was missing from home for two weeks was ordered to remain in detention pending a hearing in juvenile court. District Judge Dave Gamble appointed lawyer Derrick Lopez on Tuesday to represent Ashley Nichole Eaken, 15. Page A3

- Andy Mitchell was named the new softball coach at Douglas High School earlier this week. Mitchell has been a coach in the Carson Valley Girls' Softball Association and with the Carson Valley Hurricanes over the last six years. Page C1
