JV spikers sweeps final week of play



The Douglas junior varsity volleyball team ended its season with a big week of wins.


Last Tuesday, they avenged their only league loss, beating Reno 22-25, 25-15, 15-10. The win put the Tigers in first place in the Sierra League, giving them the junior varsity title.


Douglas had a very strong serving a defensive match.


Christine DuPuis had 10 service points, Jordan Marsh added 12 and Jordan Burke had three aces and 12 points.


Mysta Townsell had two aces and Edna Meza served six straight points with an ace.


Lindsay McKay had two kills, and Chloe Trudell had three kills after stepping up to play on the outside.


Rebecca Antti, Townsell, Katrina Morgan and DuPuis each had two kills and Burke had one kill.


Marsh finished with 26 assists on the night.


Douglas wrapped up its season last Thursday with a 25-17, 25-20 win over Wooster.


DuPuis had 15 service points and two aces.


Marsh added eight points with one ace and Burke had six points and two aces.


Morgan contributed five points and two aces while Townsell had four straight points and two aces.


Antti and Trudell each had three straight service points.


Douglas only had two kills on the night but Meza had a great night of defense with nine digs.


Townsell and Morgan also played superb defense with six and seven digs, respectively.


Marsh ended the evening with 12 assists.


Overall, Douglas finished with a 24-3 record and 16-1 in Sierra League play.
