Ducks on sale for Wacky Waddlers' Wiver Wace

The Wacky Waddlers duck race is seeking community support for a good cause. Profits from the event help families in need.

The 14th annual Wacky Waddlers Wiver Wace is scheduled for Sunday, June 11 at Lampe Park. This is the only major fundraiser for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Ray Sidney of Big George Ventures donated the extended family of 1,200 rubber ducks for the event. Local businesses received letters requesting their support to purchase a $50 business duck. The businesses will compete to win the coveted "Perpetual Duck Trophy" which they can proudly display for the coming year. The ducks are now available for a $50 tax deductible donation. Individual ducks may also be purchased for $5 at the Gardnerville Scolari's and at the Food Closet.

The Wacky Waddlers Wiver Wace aka Rubber Duck Race is a great time to spend the day at the park cheering your duck on. The ducks are released in the slough and charge on to the finish line. Each duck has a permanent number identifying the owner. You could be a lucky duck winner. The grand prize will be a trip to Disneyland for two. Other prizes are to be announced.

The Food Closet provides assistance to Douglas County residents who are in need of food and non-perishable items. If your business would like to participate this year in supporting this sporting event you can mail your check to the Food Closet, 1244 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville 89410 or call chairman Gil Goode at 885-2613.
